Google Seems to be having some issues…

January 31st, 2009

Edit

Looks like all is well in Googlesville… No word yet on what the problem was… as they say at Fark… someone probably spilled beer in the servers. Wait..this is Google. Maybe they spilled magic search juice instead… Nothing to see here, move along.

On a sidenote, We launched a new site the other day and I failed to mention it: www.adamsconstruction.ca They do some of the best renovations on decks and such.  If you’re in Alberta, Canada, and you’re in need of some deck work, or anything for that matter… contact them! They do a GREAT job.

And finally, we have a new site about to launch in the next week that we are extremely excited about. Keep checking back for the release of something rather large! Until then…

So I go to do a quick search this morning with Deep Thought, and lo and behold, every single search result says “This site may harm your computer.”. Okay, so, just to test, I search for “Google”… surely their own site isn’t harmful to my computer and sure enough, it is. Kinda Odd if you ask me.

It’s Wednesday, must be a Revamp Display Day!

January 21st, 2009

We at Evince have a soft spot for this one.  The site we are about to display/link to is our very first customer back when we were purely freelance. A few years ago, I was approached by a friend who knew a Realtor that was in need of a website. We created one for her and it’s slowly progressed from something small to a site that is versatile and feature rich.  The client name is Susan Romanello, a Realtor out of Flagler County, Florida.

Her original site was based on the Wordpress platform when it was in its infant stages.  We have not migrated her over to a Realtor geared CMS (Content Management System) that she can now alter her own listings.  If you are looking for lavish properties on the coast, and a Realtor that is always mindful of your needs, look no further than www.susanromanello.com.  Take a look, contact Susan and tell her Evince sent you!

Also, be on the look out for new pricing for the new year! Everyone likes specials!

“Your Circuit Board is damaged…”

January 16th, 2009

So the news has hit today that we have ourselves yet another casualty in the Tech world.  Granted they were “wounded” at the end of last year, but there were some hopes that they could be salvaged.  Let me back track a bit.

*Que the nostalgic flashback crossfade… come on… imagine it. Work with me here*

Years ago, I can remember watching tv; probably the Cosby Show or something like that, and seeing the age old commercial where some random tech would be displayed then a giant “State of the Art” CG, 3 prong plug would fly through the air and plug into the ground, displaying CIRCUIT CITY!!!!  There was a jingle that went along with it to about state of the art service.  Electricity would shoot out of the ground activating their prominent sign. (This always struck me as odd. You’re an electronics company, and you’re showing that your own company marketing scheme is improperly grounded.  Not smart.)

Would ya LOOK at those Bargain Prices for a 33mhz machine. That’s TOO much power!!!

Anyway, it was announced today that Circuit City is going to be liquidating the remaining 567 U.S. Stores. Link here:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Circuit-City-to-liquidate-apf-14083094.html

Yay for the economy.  I have fond memories of when I saw my first Circuit City.  It was in Daytona Beach, Fl and like all of their buildings back then, it was that gigantic Red Plug.

Behold The Monolith!

Behold The Monolith!

2009 isn’t off to that great of a start so far.  Citi is struggling again (did they ever stop?), Bank of America is panicking, Steve Jobs may be permanently gone from Apple (not a good thing in my opinion).  Hopefully it won’t be as bleak as it seems to be headed.

What this means for consumers (and my customers) is if you have tech needs in the next little bit, you may be able to find some good bargains in the next coming weeks/months. When CompUSA closed it’s doors, it was a mad house. So be safe!
